STEAM Fair activities
Chris Manzione:
Magic Mirror is a participatory Augmented Reality (AR) installation that uses a live video linked to a digital projector. Experience first hand the wonder of AR. See how it works and learn about how it will affect our lives in the future.
Andrew Cameron Zahn:
Translations workshop uses 3D Printing to create new interpretations of objects and environments around us. Participants will learn new media techniques and produce original 3D printed objects by scanning or photographing their friends or found objects.
Leslie Birch:
Touch Sensitive Web is a spider’s web that uses conductive yarn and an Arduino Microcontroller. When touched, each string produces a different sound. The web is a great tool to introduce students to microcontrollers, programmable devices that allow projects to react, blink, moves and beep. As a finale, students will create a giant paper circuit mosaic on the wall using a battery, copper tape, an LED and their own artistic inspiration.
Christina Kazakia:
Stick-lets are flexible silicone connectors that allow for open-ended and STEM-focused activities. Christina Kazakia, the inventor of Stick-lets, will be on hand to discuss her design process and her experience as an entrepreneur in the world of product design and marketing.
