UTP Celebrates 2nd Annual National Apprenticeship Week!

The US Department of Labor has designated November 14-20, 2016, as the 2nd Annual National Apprenticeship Week. National Apprenticeship Week is an opportunity for

the apprenticeship community to tell the story of apprenticeships and is an invitation
to business and industry, education, career seekers, community based organizations, students, and workers to learn about the real world advantages of developing careers through adoption of the apprenticeship model. Apprenticeship is for those who aspire to be great, lead in innovation and creativity, strive to innovate in business and industry, and recognize the value of combining paid on-the-job learning coupled with a substantial educational component to build generational greatness in careers and commerce.

The Computer Support Specialist Apprenticeship is a School District of Philadelphia initiative in partnership with Communities In Schools of Philadelphia, Inc. that provides young adults, interested in a career in technology, the opportunity to grow their technical experience while developing leadership skills. Computer Support Specialist Apprentices master their craft through hands-on training, attainment of industry-standard technical certifications and college coursework leading to a Computer Science degree.

The School District of Philadelphia and Communities In Schools of Philadelphia are excited to recognize ten new Computer Support Specialist Apprentices on November 17, 2016 from 2:00 – 3:00pm. Please join us at 440 North Broad Street, Room 1075, Philadelphia, PA 19130 for our apprentice signing ceremony. Light refreshments will be provided. All are welcome!
